Instructional Design - Multiage Pedagogy
This course investigates current developments in instructional design. Selected instructional systems are examined in terms of a design-delivery-evaluation model. A major focus is the application of models to specific curricular areas in elementary and/or secondary schools. If using the course to meet concentration requirements, the focus of the study must be in the concentration area.
This course is designed to
- develop a clear understanding of Multiage (nongraded) Education and how it differs from the traditional 'graded' and 'split class’ programs.
- envision Multiage Education as a transformative model in revisioning schools.
Course participants will learn about the research, issues, teaching strategies and management that support Multiage/Nongraded classrooms; and explore how this model can evolve with technological and educational innovations in revisioning schools.
