This course is designed to examine the nature of curriculum and the basic principles of the curriculum making process. The nature of curriculum is investigated via a consideration of a range of historical perspectives. Curriculum as a field and as a practice is examined through foundational theoretical models. Special attention is given to the role of the teacher and principal and other actors who influence the development of curriculum. The integration of theory and practice and recent innovations in curriculum organization serve as reference points throughout this course.
