Disability Studies in Education
Access: Open to all students except MEd Counselling
The course introduces students to theories of disability and considers how historic and contemporary disability definitions shape societal responses to disabled people. Disability Studies offers a critical framework for understanding disability as a social/political/cultural phenomenon. It also supports examinations of the normative ideals informing social policies and practices and the significant consequences they produce for disabled people.
